Stop marketing at people, start Interacting with them.

I KNOW. YOU’RE TRYING ALL THE MARKETING THINGS.

You’ve learned more about social media marketing than you EVER wanted to know, but were up all night studying Snapchat because a 10 year old “strategist” who was selling lemonade last week told you to.

You’re slogging away on blogging, challenges, webinars, punchier copy, a cooler website, tweeting, live streaming, podcasting, and inspirational quote posting.

Not to mention, you’re being super duper helpful in 7328 Facebook groups. (I could use a drink right about now, how about you?)

After the first few techniques didn’t get the ROI you wanted, you added another 5 to your To Do list. And another 5. And another.

So now you’re dashing around the interwebs, trying them all at once for MAXIMUM inefficiency and confusion.

LET’S STOP. SERIOUSLY.

One of the biggest questions I get is: how do I find time (and energy) to do ALL the marketing things.

My answer: you don’t.

There are SO MANY shiny object marketeers advising you to do ALL of the things on ALL of the platforms.

But, that’s the fastest way to get overwhelmed and burned out. Despair and giving up entirely aren’t far behind. (I’m thinking you know this, right?)

Wouldn’t you rather focus and invest your valuable time and energy (not to mention money) in something that you know actually works?

You know, that brings those ideal clients into your world (and your funnel), so you can get hired to do the work that lights you up?

Chica, have I got something for you!

BECAUSE ONE OF THE MOST AMAZINGLY EFFECTIVE MARKETING TOOLS IS THE INTERACTIVE QUIZ.

Seriously, I barely even need to tell you why this is.

Because who HASN’T gotten sucked down the rabbit hole of quizzes like: What grade are you getting in life? Which Hogwarts House do you belong in? What type of sandwich are you? (No, I DIDN’T make these up!)

I’ve helped numerous clients creating the content for quizzes, and we’ve found them incredibly valuable in growing their email lists and generating leads for their businesses.

So, creating my own quiz has been at the back of my mind for, well, EVER. But I kept putting it off because I was SURE it was going to take weeks and weeks and struggling with terrible tech to pull it off.

Boy, was I wrong.

Because this week I sat down with Interact, a leading quiz builder, and over the course of two, count them, TWO days, I created my very first quiz and I’m in love with it.

So if a quiz is on your to do list or you’re trying to figure out what would be a fantastically effective lead magnet for your business, this is for you.

HERE’S HOW I DID IT.

The first thing was figuring out the quiz topic. I knew I wanted to address a truly pressing problem plaguing my people, so that they would (1) want to do the quiz and (2) get value from it.

My choice: Is your introduction client-blocking you?

Trying (and failing) to introduce themselves effectively is one of the biggest issues for emerging coaches & consultants. My audience knows they’re NEVER going to get hired if they can’t tell people what they do. For way too many of them, their introduction is a huge roadblock keeping them from being hired.

So, I’ve just come out with a brand new service, the Instant Impact 1:1-from crickets to clients in one hour. It’s a powerhouse call to leave behind the cringing, confusion, and crickets that ensue when someone asks: what do you do? We replace that crap with a clear, confident, compelling introduction that speaks directly to the heart (and wallet) of your ideal client.

So, not only did I know this was super appealing topic for the quiz, but I had PLENTY of material to draw on for the questions, the results, and next steps after the quiz. And I’m a HUGE fan of repeat, repurpose, and reuse when it comes to your marketing content.

SO, WITH MY CONTENT ALL PREPPED, I WAS READY TO TACKLE THE TECH. AND FOUND IT, WELL, SHOCKINGLY EASY.

Interact’s software is super straightforward and intuitive. Plus, every step of the way, there were a bazillion help articles ready to answer all my questions, not only on the tech, but also on best practices for higher conversions.

First I choose a template.

Yes, I COULD have built my quiz from scratch, but why reinvent the wheel? Interact has a whole bunch of pre-built templates for different industries. Plus, they can be fully customized with branding.

 

 

 

Then it was on to choosing a cover image.

They even make this part easier by having a link to a database where you can find free pictures. As a bonus, they actually tell you the dimensions for images, unlike SOME platforms I could mention. (Looking at you, Facebook.)

 

 

I chose a scored quiz in which the questions are multiple choice and each answer has a point value associated with it.

The results are based on the total number of points you get while taking the quiz.

 

 

What about creating the actual QUIZ part?

Well, since I had prepped the quiz content before ever touching the tech (highly recommended), creating my questions was just a matter of cutting and pasting. Then I assigned a point total to each answer. Easy-peasy.

 

 

For the quiz results, I came up with three different levels based on their scores.

These show how much their introduction is client-blocking them on a scale from Hidden Gem to Extraordinary.

I wrote up a brief description of their results, and created a Call to Action offering additional resources to help with this issue, both free (the Instant Impact guide and the Departure Lounge challenge) and paid ( the Instant Impact 1:1 call).

This is all built right within Interact, but you can also redirect your quiz takers to outside sites for even more customization.

 

 

 

Connecting!

It was then a matter of seconds to integrate this with my email marketing system, Active Campaign, adding them to a new list, tagging them to start autoresponders.

 

 

The final step? Deciding how to promote it!

As you can see, there are a ton of fantastic options for doing this. In my case, since I am in the middle of a website refresh, I am sending people to the quiz via link for the time being.

 

And, poof, just like that, I have a gorgeous new quiz that I cannot WAIT to share. In, fact, here it is!

THIS IS HONESTLY THE EASIEST MARKETING TOOL I’VE EVER USED.

And I’ve just started playing with it. I can see a gazillion more ways to profit from it. Yes, literally.
